IFB Executive Plus Operation
The program chart is written in in the dispenser assy so it's easy to select the program.
Three switches meant for water plus, Spin Cancel and Spin speed provided/
Program selector switch(Timer)
Off/On and different temperature settings are provided. (A Single switch). i.e the temperature switch itself acts as on/off switch.It's different positions are as follows
0- OFF
1-ON
30- 60 degree- ON & respective temperature
The following figure shows the dispenser assy. I is meant for Prewash; II for main wash; the flower symbol represents the additives to be added for rinsing(Like softener). Here one important thing should be noted. Only if we select the program from prewash, then we've to put detergent in the prewash compartment. Otherwise, Put the detergent in the main wash compartment alone. Softener should be added in the rinsing compartment at the beginning of the program itself. The machine will automatically take the softener at the time of rinsing
Three switches are provided for water plus, No Spin and Spin Speed respectively.
1.Water Plus: If we want to rinse the clothes with more water.
2.No Spin: If we don't want Spin- to get the clothes wrinkles free.If we press this switch, the spin will not go on, so the clothes will be wet only.
3.Spin Speed: By Pressing this switch the spin speed in reduced to 600 rpm instead of 800 rpm. Now, the Spin will go on, but less effective.
The above two diagrams show the on/off switch and program switch respectively. The third diagram shows the options available in program switch for understanding purpose..
The program switch consists of two major cycle.1.A to H.(Normal and Heavy Cycle). 2.G to L(Gentle and Delicate Cycle)
Procedure:
1.Open the tap.
2.Load the clothes
3.Close the door
4. Put the detergent in main wash compartment(II).Put the detergent in Prewash(I) Compartment also if you start the cycle from 'A' or 'G'.
5.Select the program between A to D for normal cycle and G to K for delicate cycle.(The difference between B,C and D is only wash timing; If you keep it in 'A', Prewash will take place first, then water will drain and then it moves to B(main wash); Likewise For delicate cycle- with prewash-G;Main wash H and K)
6.Turn On Temperature Switch from 0 to 1(ON) and set the temperature if required.
7.The Entire program will go on and the machine turns off. When the programing takes place, Green Light(LED) will be On. When It turns off, the green light goes OFF and the red light turns ON.
Precautions:
1. Ensure that the door is closed properly.
2. When the program takes place, the door gets locked and don't try to open in between.
3.After the program is over it takes 60 to 90 seconds for the lock to release. Don't try to open the door till then.
All About Detergents
An usual question many customers arise is which Brand of Detergent I should use and What is the quantity to be used. May be the answer is simple.."By Practice you'll come to know". But few more tips I want to give you about detergent.
The Quantity of the Detergent depends upon the following factors..
1. The detergent Brand(Ariel,Surf,Henko etc.,)
2. Type(Matic, Excel etc.,)
3. Liquid/ Powder Detergent
4. Load
5.Type of Clothes
6.How much soiled the clothes are.
7.The Machine is Front Loading or Top Loading.
8.Water Temperature
1. Brand: Almost All the leading Brands are equally good. You can select whichever you like.
2.Type: All the Leading Brands are coming in different types viz., Matic, Excel etc., It can be said in other way as more concentrated and less concentrated.The Recent detergents contain enzymes, oxygen bleach and few more components to improve the wash quality.(You can see coloured granules)
many of us are having a prolonged belief that detergents which are giving more foam gives better wash. But actually, It is not so. With the recent detergents are less foam giving, but provides better wash quality. So, Foam is not an indication to find out the quantity of the detergent required.
Also we're afraid about the cost of the detergent. I suggest to go for expensive matic kind of detergent. Though It is expensive, very little quantity of detergent would be sufficient for a full load.(Comparing to ordinary detergents). It doesn't mean that ordinary detergents can not be used in washing machines. It can be used, But the quantity required will be more.If you compare the cost per wash, then it would be one and the same.(i.e., If you've to use one spoonful of ordinary detergent per wash, with Matic or Ultramatic, One spoonful will be sufficient) Also Detergent is one of the cause for scale formation in the tub, It's better to go for good quality detergent.

The above panel shows the higher end version of WA serious.If you find any option is missing in your machine, It is understood that the particular option is available for higher version only.
Now the procedure for operation..
For Normal Mode(Default) without Fuzzy:-
1. Ensure that the Inlet Hose is Connected, Drain Hose is put down.
2.Open the tap; Till the Entire operation gets over, It should be kept opened. The Machine will take the water as and when required.
3.Now, Put the clothes; Put the detergent.
4.Switch On the Machine.Press Power-On/Off Switch in the machine.
5. Now press the water level switch(the 2nd one from left) to select the required water level.This water level should be selected according to the number of cloths we put. The basic idea of Selecting the Water Level is- The water level should be 2 inches above the clothes level so that the clothes move freely. There are four levels provided viz Extra Low,Low Medium and High.This you'll come to know by practice. Maximum Within a week time 7 loads, You'll come to know.
6.Close the Lid. If you want to wash the clothes in Normal mode(Default), You can press Start and leave the machine. The Machine will do the Entire process on its own(fill,wash,drain,small spin,again fill, rinse, Drain,Final Spin-Everything on its own).
7.After the process is over the Machine will give a Buzzer Sound; Now you can come and take out the clothes.The Cloths will be 80% dried. You have to dry outside.
Memory
There is an in-built memory so that when power goes off and resumes, the Machine will start from the same process where it left.
Fuzzy logic Option:
if you're not sure about the water level to be selected,then you can go for fuzzy mode.After switching ON the machine, without selecting the water level if press'start', the machine will operate on Fuzzy mode.(i.e) It senses the weight and type of the clothes and selects water level on its own
To Change the Program:-
The above process is for Normal Program (Say for your regular cloths).There are actually 6 programs provided. If you want to select the program, Before Starting the Machine you can change the program by pressing Program Switch as follows.
1.Fuzzy("Normal" if water level selected manually)- For Regular Washing Clothes
- By Default(immediately after Switching ON)+ Press 'Start/Pause"
2.Quik- If the clothes are not heavily soiled and if you feel that the clothes can be washed
for a short duration (Or if you're in a hurry to go somewhere urgently)
-PressProgram Switch twice.+Press "Start/Pause"
3.Wool- For Delicate Cloths
-Press program Switch three times+press Start/Pause
4.Blanket- For heavy clothes like bed sheets, Jeans
-Press Progran Switch four times+Press"Start/Pause"
5.Soak-To activate soak during wash program(soak+wash+soak+wash....)
6. Clean Tub- By pressing this and 'start', Tub is cleaned on its own. Periodical Cleaning should be done to avoid scale formation.
To change Function
When You're using the Machine as said before, the Entire process will go on(Soak+Wash+Rinse+Spin). But there are some situation when you've to do individual Options alone.
Say..1.If You don't want to Soak the Clothes
2.If You've Washed your Cloths when Power was not there and you want to do Rinse & Spin in the Washing Machine.
3.If You want to spin dry your wet clothes
4.If You don't want to Spin dry.
Then you can select individual option by pressing Function Switch(and press Start)
1st Press--Wash Alone+Press 'Start/Pause"
2nd Press---Wash+Rinse+Press 'Star/Pause'
3rd Press--Rinse+Spin+Press 'Start/Pause"
4th Press--Spin alone+Press'Start/Pause'
LED (Light) Indication
The LED(Light) of the selected programs and option GLOWS
The LED(Light) of the current running process BLINKS(soak / wash / rinse / spin)
Other Options
Hot Water(optional):
"Hot Water" can be selected if you want to wash with hot water. There is no in-built Heater.If you have external electrical Heater cum plumbing line,then you can select this.
Precautions:
1.the water temperature should be less than 50 degree Celcius.
2.Both Hot Water and Cold Water tubes to be connected; Because Rinsing is done with cold water only.
3.Ensure Hot water line is not connected to cold water inlet and vice versa
Air Turbo(Optional)
By pressing 'Air Turbo' Switch, You can increase the efficiency of spin Dry with less wrinkles.
If you want to
1.Add clothes/Detergent in between:
Press 'Start/Pause' for pausing; Add; Close the Lid; Press 'Start/Pause' for starting.
2.Change the Water Level in Between:
Press "Start/Pause" for Pausing; Change water level; Press Star/Pause for starting.
3. Drain the water
If any process is running currently(LED blinking), Press'Start/Pause'. Select 'Spin' alone and Start.
4.Cancel Previous memory( If power had gone and clothes were taken out)
Press Power On/Off Switch in the control Panel. The Display goes Off. Press On/Off again and change program.
LCD Display (Optional)
A LCD display is provided in which you can see the function going on, Remaining Time etc.,
Safety Switch
During Spin if the Lid is opened, the spin stops.Check Filter Indication
After Wash, the Check filter Indication glows on to remind you to clean filter.
If you open the Lid,this goes off.
FAQs
Both the types have its own advantages and Drawbacks.
Semi Automatic Machines are cost effective, simple but about 30 percent of the job we've to do manually like water filling, turning drain knob ON, Taking out the clothes from wash tub and putting into spin tub.
Fully Automatic does everything on its own. It takes the water on its own, washes, rinses,Spins.. Everything will be automatic. So till the washing gets over, we can do some other tasks.
But there are people who are not patient enough till the process gets over( Having used semi automatic before, Now they say that it takes longer time).
If you were using Fully Automatic, Don't go for Semi automatic now. Then you'll feel as if you have to be behind the washing Machine.
If you are a new buyer consider the cost factor, family size etc.,
Which is better Front loading or top Loading?
Both Top Loading and Front loading Machines its own advantage and drawbacks
Front Loading machine consumes less water and less detergent; It has in built water heater also. But It takes such a long time for one complete cycle. In between if you want to add clothes, It's not possible.If there is a problem of water supply in your tap, you may not be able to pour water and wash.Front loading machines are heavier(to move or transport) and consumes more electricity.
Top Loading Machines consume less Electricity, Highly User Friendly; You can add clothes or detergent in between. The drawback is It consumes more water and detergent. Most of the Top loading washing Machines don't hve In-Built Heater.
Considering all the above advantages and drawbacks you can decide upon.
Fuzzy Logic / Water Level Selection
A: Generally in all Top loading Fully Automatic Washing Machines, A Knob is provided for selecting the water level. This knob's position can be adjusted between low.. medium... and High. If the knob is turned to Low, the machine will take water upto a fixed minimum level (Low)in the tub(For Eg., 1/3rd of the tub). If the knob is turned to high, Water will be taken to the Maximum Level. If it is turned to medium , intermediate level is taken. Only once we've to select.. at the beginning of the washing.Then the machine will complete the entire Cycle on its own. Throughout the Cycle(For Rinsing also), the Machine will take water what we've selected (as long as we don't change in between)
In Fuzzy Logic Washing Machines, We don't need to select the water level. Instead, The machine itself selects the water level according to the weight and type of clothes we put.
Q: Is It such a tough job to select the water level?
A: No.. not at all..Generally in many machines, water level is not written in the tub.(It's written only the water level selector knob. So, Initially you may have a problem of knowing which is which level in the tub.(Which is low, which is medium and which is high).By making a trial wash and keeping the water level selector in different level,You can find out that and remember.You can make some mark if u want in the tub( if at all required).If you don't do the trial wash also, By practice you'll come to know within a week time.Many people have the practice of using full load only. In that case, the water level can be kept in 'high' permanently.
Q:How to decide my water level?
A: According to the Clothes level, you've to select the water level. The Basic idea is water level should be two inches above the clothes level. The clothes should move freely.
While Explaining, It looks big. Practically, It takes only few seconds for selecting the water level..
Q: If I want to increase the water level for rinsing, Is It possible?
A: Yes.. You can very well.After washing is over, you can change.
Q:In my washing machine, If I want to increase the water level in between, It's not changing.Is there any problem with my machine?
A:Once water level is selected and the machine started washing. Now if you want to change the water level directly, It won't change. You've to bring the water level selector to Reset position and then change. This reset position in the water level Switch is unstable. that is you can't make the knob to be stable in that position. It'll come back to high. It is Normal feature of the machine. The Reset position is called by different names say "ADD"
Q:I've a godrej washing fully automatic washing machine. It is not fuzzy logic; But It doesn't have such knob or "Reset" position.
In your machine,the rotary kind of water level switch is not there. Instead the water level switch is provided as press switch in the control panel itself. Indications are shown by means of LEDs(lights) for low, medium and high.
Q:In Fuzzy logic machines. will the water level selected by the Machine be appropriate?
A:Can't say exactly.. Some customers are satisfied.. Some people say it's not selecting properly from the beginning. In fact, In Whirlpool Fuzzy logic Machine's User's manual, a note is provided saying "Some times the machine will select low level only to protect your machine from low voltage."
If that is the case the following problem may occur.You select fuzzy for washing. Low voltage occurs.
The machine selects low level and does the wash.At the end of washing, you find the cloths are not washed properly. Now, Again you've to do the Entire wash. You went for this machine for additional comfort. But your job is doubled.
Q:Actually, Along with the water level indication, they've written detergent Quantity meant for each level. It means after selecting the water level, we've to come near the machine for putting detergent. That time if the water level is not proper, we can change know?
A:If that is the case, Why they've provided a detergent dispenser..For the water to mix with the detergent and fall inside.. right?. Then what is the use of detergent dispenser if you're putting detergent after seeing the machine's selection(i.e directly into the tub).Also by practice You would have come to know about the detergent required for the quantity of clothes you put. Also Fuzzy logic machines are meant for better comfort than ordinary machines (like not to worry about the load you put). If you've to keep on watching the machine's process for it's level selection, then Non Fuzzy Machines are better.
Q:Are all the Brands are malfunctioning during fuzzy operation?
A:Not all. Only few Brands.
Q:Can water level be selected manually in Fuzzy logic machines?
A:Yes, You can
Q:So, the fuzzy logic machines can be used as non -fuzzy logic machines also?
A:Yes, It can be..
Q:Do you mean to say that I should not buy for fuzzy logic models?
A:You can buy.. But not specifically for that particular feature. Few Eg.s I've given where all you can go for fuzzy logic machines.
1.The non-fuzzy model of a brand does not have hot water option and fuzzy model of the machine has hot water option.( Or some other options are available in fuzzy models alone..Like Delay start etc.,)
2.All LG machines are very good, all are fuzzy model and you've to select one among them.
3.If the price difference between fuzzy logic and Non-Fuzzy logic machine is not much.
Sorting of Cloths in Washing Machine

But practically, It may not be possible to sort according to clothes type because we have different kinds of clothes Synthetic or Cotton, Heavy - Normal - Light, Coloured or White, Small Sized(socks Kerchief) to Large Sized(Bedspreads), Wool-Blanket etc.,
I suggest to have basic sorting alone which is definitely possible.
1. Lint Takers and Lint Takers not to be put together.
Towels are generally Lint givers. It emits threads at the time of washing. Teri cotton pants have the tendency of absorbing Lints. If you wonder why, this is because of the physics phenomena called static electricity. We should not put Lint givers and Lint Takers together.
2.Coloured and White cloths should not be put together

Microwave Cooking Made Simple

My first suggestion in using the microwave oven is not to follow any recepy book or videos. Because, many people try in that way and if it doesn't come well they stop cooking in microwave oven and they simply use for reheating purpose.
The second thing Don't try the customized options in microwave oven i.e.. Auto cook options. i.e., Selecting which item to be cooked(say potato), how many servings(2 or 300 gms say) and the microwave oven itself will select the timing on its own. These options are provided only as guidelines and you may get fed up if try using these. Because cooking time in microwave depends on so many other factors like the vessel size, the size in which the vegetables cut into; and not only the servings or weight of the food substances. Then How to cook?
Don't worry.. It's all only mind applications. Use Only Time and Start. If at all required, Power level. This is what is done if you select auto menu also.What all you have to do is to keep the items to be cooked inside the oven.. Select timing and press start. That's all. But How will I know the timing? Simple.. It comes by practice.. Don't be afraid whether the food will be over cooked or less cooked. Tell your family members to adjust if there is any mistake since it is a beginning and within a week time you will start cooking most of the items. And nothing happens in most of our Indian recepie even if it is overcooked.
Be creative in cooking new dishes. All the microwave ovens are disgned in a user friendly manor and don't worry.. It won't burst if you do any mistakes.Strictly Follow only the following things..
1.Don't Use metal vessels . Use microwave safe containers alone
2.Don't Heat oil.. But Oil can be mixed with anything and kept inside.(say vegetables mixed with 2 teaspoon of oil can be cooked)
3.Don't do prefrying of mustard etc.,(கடுகு தாளிக்க வேண்டாம்)
4.Don't wash glass vessels immediately after cooking.
I've given few examples of cooking method here.
1Milk Boiling
Milk Boiling Time varies according to a) the type of milk (pasteurized, standardized, Toned milk) b) Size of the bowl(Broader bowl takes more time) c) Quantity of water added to milk.Every individual has a different kind of practice in above factors. Some may add two glasses of water and some people may not add water at all.So, My suggestion is.. Keep a bowl only for the purpose of milk boiling . you should not use any bowls other than this since boiling time will vary..follow a standard practice of adding water. If you have a practice of boiling half liter of milk, Always boil half liter at a time.
Now the first time alone Be near the microwave oven and observe how many minutes it takes for the milk to boil(coming upwards). Say if it is 7 minutes, the next time onwards you can directly select 7 minutes for milk boiling and you can be away from the machine to do your other jobs. Once after the 7 minutes get over, the microwave oven automatically turns off giving a beep sound. Now You don't even need to come and take it out immediately. You can do that according to your convenient time.
Try. This would be much simpler than explaining.
Know Your Washing Machine
1.Top Loading Fully Automatic Washing Machine:
1. Tap Adopter:
Tap adopter is called by different names by different brands Viz., Faucet, Faucet coupler, magic joint assy etc., this is the part which connects the inlet Hose of the washing machine to the tap. The Tap adopter is fixed permenantly in the tap. The Inlet hose can be connected or disconnected as and when required. That is., When we're not using the washing Machine, If we want to use the tap for some other purpose, we can use. Only Inlet Hose can be disconnected and the tap adopter should not be removed. Ensure that there is no leakage in the Tap adopter.There is a small technique to be adopted while fixing to avoid leakage.How to?
But, It is advisable to keep the washing machine in a single permenant place so that we don't need to disturb the set up.
2.Inlet Valve:
Inlet Valve is a part of the machine where the Inlet hose is connected to the washing Machine. The machine takes water through this part as and when required.Connecting the Inlet Hose to the machine is very simple which anybody can do. The machine end of the inlet hose has plastic coupling and thread is provided. Likewise the protruding portion of the inlet valve has threads. We have to fix together by tightening. (Turning clockwise is tightening and turning anticlockwise is loosening.) Ensure that the rubber washer is present in the inlet tube and check for Leakage. There is a filter provided in the Inlet Valve. The dirt particles coming in the water gets clogged here. This filter needs to be cleaned periodically.See How
Optional: Some machine have two Inlet Valves meant for Hot and Cold(as shown in figure).In case, if you have geezer (Electrical water heater) connection for getting hot water in the tap, Then Hot water Inlet also can be connected.
Note:1. If you'r using hot water connection, the cold water tube also must be connected. Because, For Rinsing, Machine takes cold water only generally.
2.If you're using only cold water always, Hot water tube need not to be connected.
3.Ensure that connection is no interchanged(i.e., Cold water to hot water vice versa)
3.Detergent Dispenser:
This is the place where we've to put the detergent powder.This detergent gets mixed with the incoming water and gets inside the machine. If the tap pressure is not sufficient, the detergent may not dissolve properly. In that case, you can mix the detergent in a mug of water and pour directly into the machine.(Or you can use Liquid Detergent.)More About Detergent..(not posted yet)
4.Lint Filter:
The fine dirt and threads get collected in the Lint Filter which needs to be cleaned after every wash. See How
5.Spin Tub:
Spin tub is the one which rotates with a high speed at the time of spin drying. Safety measures are provided so that if you open the lid at the time of spin, The Machine gets off automatically.
Cleaning: Use a cotton cloth to wipe; Keep the lid open for few minutes everyday.
6. Control Panel:
This is the place where your operating switches are provided. Since the program varies from brand to brand, I'll make different posts for every brand.
7.Cabinet:
Cabinet is the outer body of the machine.Here, Machines are available in different colors. You can select as per your taste.Generally, the cabinet is made up of steel.So, Avoid keeping the machine inside the bathroom as it may get rusted.
8.Power Cors and Plug Point:
This is the important thing which you've to be bothered about.
1.Use appropriate rating mentioned in the manual.. Generally 5Amps.. Brands with in built heater should be connected to 15 Amps plug point only.
2.Do not use Electrical Extension Boxes
3.Last but not least, Ensure proper grounding.(Earth)
9.Drain Hose:
This is the part through which the water drains.It doesn't need any general maintenance
But Ensure the following things:
1.Only front loading machines are coming with drain pump.All other top loading machines have drain valve system.(i.e) a valve is pulled automatically at the time of draining and drains due to graavitational force only. so Ensure that the drain hose is not kept elevated. The drain hose should not be placed above the machine level.
2. Ensure that there is no Kink in th Drain Hose
3.Ensure that there is no blockage.
4. Ensure that there is no leakage.
10.Ratmesh:
The bottom portion is closed to protect your machine from rats.In some brands and models, It comes along with the Machine. In Some Brands, You can get it by paying extra. If you have rats in the house, Get a ratmesh fixed. Rats spoil the entire machine
11.Hose Holders:
There are holders provided for hanging it after use.

The tap adopter is fixed in the tap as shown in figure.
The second figure shows one end of the inlet hose..
The outer portion I've shown in blue colour only for understanding purpose. The actual colour may be different.
The Outer portion(blue) is movable up and down.
While fixing,
1.Press down the outer portion.
2.Keeping in the pressed down position, Insert into tap adopter.
3. Now, Leave. If it doesn't go back automatically, slightly push upwards.
While removing
1. Press down the outer portion.
2.Keeping in the pressed down position pull it.
As same as connecting the gas regulator into the cylinder.

- See whether water is coming with sufficient force from the tap.

4.Water not Draining:
- Check the Drain Path outside the Machine.
- See whether any blockage in the Drain Hose.
- Check whether any kink in the Drain Hose.
- See whether you've not cancelled the memory option.
In certein machines there will be a in Built memory.It means when the power goes off in between the washing, When the power resumes It will start from the same process where it left.Some times,Because of power failure, we take out the clothes and wash.So when the power resumes, the Machine will start from the same process where It left.So when we want to put new load, the previous load's water will remain there. To drain the water, we should press 'cancel' and keep in spin and start. Once when the entire water drained out again press cancel and set the program.
Machine in which cancel button not there- Power(on/off) button to be used for cancelling the program.

Inlet Valve Filter Cleaning

This is the portion where your inlet Hose is connected to the Machine. The step by step procedure for cleaning the filter is given below.
1.Close the Tap(Even if you normally leave it closed, Ensure Once again that it is closed
2.The machine end of the Inlet tube is usually round in shape. Turn this counter-clockwise for removing.(This is thread type only)
3.The filter can be removed with a nose plier. But normally I suggest not to remove it because when you try doing without practice, the filter may get damaged. Instead, take a tooth brush; Dip into water and Clean the filter. Do dipping and cleaning repeatedly( 4 or 5 times).(Note-You're Cleaning without removing the filter; Keeping it in the machine itself
4. Fix back the Inlet tube into the machine by turning clockwise. Ensure that there is no leakage.
Now Open the tap and Switch ON the machine.You'll find water is coming with good force
Simple..Right..
Clean this periodically..!
